Installation of electricity cables from Kenardington to Ruckinge
UK Power Networks are planning to undertake a project upgrading the current cables linking our substations in Kenardington and Ruckinge.
Background
The current cables need to be upgraded. Our objective is to replace the circuit with modern cables which will support local communities with a reliable electricity supply as well as support future growth and electricity demand. We anticipate works starting in April/May 2026 and completing by the end of 2027.
Our team will excavate trenches to lay pipework (ducts) along the 6km route between two substations. We will then return to open excavations at intervals along the route to pull new cables into position and connect them to our electricity network.
Public information events
We are running some public information sessions about the upcoming works. The sessions will be run as drop ins and members of the project team will be present to answer any questions you may have. Both events will be the same, and details are as follows: • Wednesday 18 March, 6pm – 9pm
Monday 23 March, 6pm – 9pm
Location: Ruckinge Village Hall, Hamstreet Road, Ruckinge, TN26 2NU
